Restoring Elegance: The Journey of a 1935 Triumph

Hello, classic car enthusiasts! Today, we’re excited to share a behind-the-scenes look at one of our current projects: restoring a 1935 Triumph with particular attention to its rear arch and apron. This classic beauty came to us with a bit of wear and tear, and it’s our job to bring her back to her former glory.

Shaping History with Precision

The first challenge we faced was addressing the damage to the car’s rear arch and apron. Using traditional panel beating techniques, our skilled technicians meticulously hammered out the dents and reshaped the metal to match the Triumph’s original contours. It’s a painstaking process that requires a steady hand and an eye for detail, as each stroke of the hammer helps restore the shape that defines this classic.

Finishing with a Flourish

After reshaping the metal, we moved on to metal finishing. This step is crucial for achieving that flawless look. We smoothed out every minor imperfection to ensure that the surface was perfectly prepped for priming. It’s about creating a canvas that’s as pristine as it was back in the 1930s.

A Prime Foundation

Next, we applied a high-quality primer to protect the bare metal from the elements and to provide a consistent base for the paint application. Priming is essential—it helps the paint adhere better and contributes to the overall durability of the finish. This stage sets the stage for the stunning visuals that follow.

Masterful Color Blending

Matching the paint color on a vintage car is both an art and a science. We took great care to blend the new paint with the existing colors, ensuring a seamless transition that respects the vehicle’s heritage. Our goal is always to maintain the authenticity of the era while giving the car a fresh, vibrant look.

Revamping the Fuel Tank

Separately, we tackled the fuel tank, which needed some extra love due to a previous paint job that didn’t meet our high standards. We started with wet flatting, using fine abrasives and water to smooth the surface meticulously. After achieving the perfect smoothness, we polished the tank to a high gloss, a process known as mopping. This step ensures that the finish not only meets but exceeds the customer’s expectations.

Each phase of restoration is carried out with the utmost care and respect for the vehicle’s history. Our team is passionate about bringing these timeless machines back to life, ensuring they leave our shop in pristine condition, ready to turn heads on the road once again.

Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to breathe new life into more classic treasures.
